Following the original discussion about The Words Project I created this list of words, they are not all my own ideas as a lot were inspired by members of the Up-Cycled Cloth collective. The list was created originally for my own purposes to help me rethink my own wording and even thinking about the use of language when talking about my own re/up-cycled textiles but since some have mentioned not knowing what words to use I’m publishing it now to serve as inspiration.
For the purposes of The Words Project you do NOT need to use a unique word, or even a real already-established-as-meaning-recycled- word, use a word that means something to you, that you personally tie to the re-use of textiles. This is all about changing the language, making it positive, making it inspiring! It doesn’t matter if a hundred people use exactly the same word.
So use this list to inspire you, maybe one of these words triggers an idea for you to create using it, maybe the list inspires you to find and use another word, it doesn’t matter – it’s your piece and your work so choose your word!
